Questions
How much is the toll on the Verrazzano Bridge?
For a car it is $7.46 with an E-ZPass from the New York service center, $9.79 for other E-ZPass and plate-based charges ("mid-tier"), and $12.03 by mail. Staten Island residents with E-ZPass pay less.
Which NYC bridges are free?
The East River bridges run by the city (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg and Ed Koch Queensboro) have no toll, and neither do most Harlem River bridges. The MTA charges tolls on its 7 bridges and 2 tunnels.
What is cheaper, E-ZPass or Tolls by Mail?
E-ZPass. At the big MTA crossings a car pays $7.46 with a New York E-ZPass against $12.03 by mail, so Tolls by Mail costs about 61% more.
Do I pay the congestion pricing toll too?
Only if you drive into Manhattan below 60th Street. Tunnel drivers get a crossing credit against it at peak times. See the congestion pricing page for the details.
